Show Notes

Encounters with Jesus often reveal much about Jesus as well as much about the person He encounters and the other bystanders (family/friends/onlookers).  In the story from John 9, Jesus heals a man born blind from birth.  This causes quite a stir because it was a Sabbath and the Pharisees did not believe Jesus should heal on a day of rest.  The Pharisees go to great lengths to discredit Jesus and the miracle.  They call in the healed man to ask him who did this and how or what did He do to make him see.  They also call in the man's parents...those who raised this man and knew of his condition.  The parents really want little to do with the whole event.  They know to be associated with Jesus meant banishment from the synagogue and living outside of community.  They asked that the Pharisees just investigate the matter directly through their son.

No matter what happens when we encounter Jesus, there are sure to be different reactions from those around us.  Some will be encouraged and choose to believe as well.  Others will mock or ridicule our faith.  Whatever the response, we can rest assured that Jesus is the Messiah, just like He revealed to the man whose blindness was removed.  He is faithful to watch over us if we choose to receive Him.
