Show Notes

There's a song by the late Larry Norman that the group DCTalk covered in the latter years of their career.  The song is titled "I Wish We'd All Been Ready" and in it are these lines:  There's no time to change your mind, the Son has come and you've been left behind.  This episode centers on the topic this song addresses:  the return of Christ.  To be ready means to be prepared and we can learn much about preparation through Jesus' parable about The Ten Virgins (or Bridesmaids).  Those who had their lamps full of oil were prepared for the moment the Bridegroom returned.  Those who were not ready were shut out and left out of the wedding feast.

In looking at the blessed hope, there is a personal responsibility we each have to "keep our lamps full."  How do we do that?  We stay in fellowship with the Father.  We commit to prayer and growing in His word.  We share the Gospel and live it out.  If we have Christ, the Holy Spirit's presence will appear and our lamps will be full.  We know some will not be ready and Jesus will catch them unprepared at His return.  We know this event will occur.  We must live with it always in the front of our minds.
