Excited to close this My Favorite Verses series with this last podcast, taken from Joshua 24:15 - And if it is evil in your eyes to serve the Lord, choose this day whom you will serve, whether the gods your fathers served in the region beyond the River, or the gods of the Amorites in whose land you dwell. But as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.
This verse is important because just as it laid a choice before the Israelites, a choice is laid before us as well. Follow God or not. Choose the Lord or not. There are other gods. There are other paths. But the nation has been led to the promise and indeed, has now inherited it. The next generation would have to make a choice to stick with God's ways. We have that choice as well. Our faith must be our own, it cannot be the faith simply inherited from our parents or passed down from someone else. We desire our own relationship; to put roots down and have a firm foundation.
